Order of Christian Funerals

There is nothing greater than to receive Jesus, truly present in the Eucharist at Mass.

Funeral Icon A Catholic funeral, like all funerals, is a time of sadness and mourning. However, in the Catholic faith there is joy in the belief that a funeral represents the passing of the beloved into eternal life. It is our goal at St. Edward to make this process as easy as possible. The process begins when a funeral home calls to inform us that a parishioner has died. The priest is contacted to set the time and day of the funeral. At St. Edward, funerals are usually scheduled at 10:00 a. m.Monday through Saturday, but another time can be arranged if necessary.

The family will then make a time to meet with a parish priest and plan the liturgy. At this time, the family is asked if they would like to have a luncheon after the funeral. Please note that the ability to have a luncheon is dependent on the availability of our Parish Activity Center facility.

St. Edward has prepared a Funeral Mass Planning booklet, which parishioners have found to be of great help during this time. Local funeral homes will provide you with this booklet, or they are available at the Parish Office. You may also view the booklet by clicking on the link below.
