Spanish
Grades K-3My goal for the Spanish students in grades K-3 is to have an introduction to the Spanish language. This introduction includes becoming comfortable pronouncing the Spanish phonetics, listening to the language and understanding a large range of Spanish vocabulary. Songs, poetry, games and stories are important tools in reaching this goal. Reading and writing are introduced in the lower grades in a non-threatening atmosphere. Grades 4-8My goal for grades 4 through 8 is to begin a more formal study of the Spanish language. A combination of building vocabulary and grasping grammar concepts is used to reach the goal of conversing in Spanish. Using what is learned in Spanish class to express the student’s own personal thoughts is an important element in the higher grades. Reading and writing skills in Spanish are also expanded. The concepts covered in grades 4 through 8 are those typically covered in Spanish 1.
